All Bernalillo Public Schools are canceled today, Tuesday, April 14, 2026. There is police activity near Bernalillo High School. BPS Transportation and buses are currently unable to leave the lot, and access to the BHS campus is restricted for all students at this time. School will resume on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Joaquin Cordova has been named a Daniels Fund Scholarship recipient!

Joaquin is a true leader—among his peers, in his community, and within his family. A top student, he is known by his teachers as someone who consistently goes above and beyond, bringing curiosity, thought-provoking questions, and a genuine willingness to help others. His peers look to him for guidance, knowing he will lead them in the right direction. He shows up every day ready to learn and contribute with a positive attitude.

Beyond the classroom, Joaquin is equally impressive. With nine years of dedication, he has earned a black belt in Taekwondo and now teaches martial arts to both children and adults in his community. His self-discipline, gentle nature, and passion for helping others shine through in everything he does, and he aspires to one day open his own martial arts studio.

Joaquin is also deeply committed to his family, embracing his role as an older brother by helping his siblings get ready for school and setting a strong example for them. As he works toward becoming the first in his family to earn a four-year college degree, Joaquin continues to demonstrate the intelligence, resilience, and perseverance needed to achieve his goals.
