Mike Archibeque

I am a lifelong resident of the Bernalillo School District, raised in Bernalillo and currently reside in Algodones. I am a 1982 Bernalillo High School graduate and in 1987 in graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, with a concentration in Political Science and minor studies in Criminal Justice and Aerospace Studies. I also received a Commissioning as a 2nd Lt. in the United States Air Force in 1987. Currently, I am CEO/President of MA Strategies, LLC, self-owned, small business, in Sandoval County, specializing in program, project, and educational management services and solutions. I have been married to Deborah (also a graduate of BHS and the University of Albuquerque/TVI as a Registered Nurse) for 33 years and we have raised two wonderful children (Adrian & Kaitlyn) in this area and we all have lifelong family, friends, and acquaintances attending our School District.

I have a strong commitment to education and have worked in this area since 2010, serving as the former Chief Information Officer for the New Mexico Public Education Department and currently working in education program development, college & career readiness, education technology, and curriculum and instruction solutions. Over the years, I have been involved and continue to work with the following education affiliations:

  • New Mexico Association of Career & Technical Education (NMACTE) – Director, Counseling & Career Development

  • Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce (AHCC) – Education Committee Chair

  • Association for Career and Technology Education (ACTE)

  • International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE)

  • NM Governor’s Broadband Initiative (Education Technology & Access) – Public Education Lead

  • State Data Systems Council, Co-Chair – Legislative Mandated

  • National Education CIO Forum

  • International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE)

My experiences working with above affiliations allowed me to engage with school districts and charter schools throughout the State in developing data-driven policies, programs, and budgetary efforts to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment necessary to aid students with addressing college, career, and military readiness. In collaboration with education partners throughout the country, I’ve gained a vast knowledge of initiatives that can measure the disparities in students’ academic achievement (improvement and progress), engagement in schooling, and competency/project based learning. Coupled with this, is the necessity to constantly evaluate and measure equitable access to resources/opportunities and disparities in cultures, families, and communities that contribute to unequal outcomes for students.

I am fully aware of the diverse cultures represented within the District and understand the importance of respect, collaboration, and cooperation among these cultures.  Our District is very unique and in these trying times with the pandemic still upon us, it is vital we come together to make sure our students our safe, healthy, and socially/emotionally prepared to meet the challenges that lie ahead. It is our responsibility to ensure equal educational opportunities are available to help our children deal with our ever changing world.

I obtained my appointment to the School Board in May 2021 and I look forward to applying my skills and experience I have gained over the past 25 years in the Federal, State, Corporate, and Education sectors, in assisting the Bernalillo School District board members, administration, educators, students, and parents with providing effective and comprehensive education policies and services as a School Board Member.
