I am humbled to serve you as a Bernalillo Public Schools (BPS) Board Member. Along with my spouse and two sons, I am a graduate of the Bernalillo Public Schools district. Currently, two of my three grandchildren attend BPS.

The pride and robust educational values attained from the BPS district, along with the support of my family, has allowed me to pursue a successful 36-year career in Government. I had the privilege of working 25 years with the BPS in various capacities to include: Bookkeeper in the Food Service and Athletic Departments, as well as tenures with the Bernalillo High, Bernalillo Middle, and Santo Domingo Schools. In 2008, I transitioned to work for the State of New Mexico, where I have been employed for the past 11 years. My tenure with the State of New Mexico include: 2- years with the New Mexico Corrections Department as a Business Operations Specialist; 2-years with the Public Education Department’s (NMPED)-Option for Parents Division (Charter School) as an Advanced Business Operations Specialist; 3 years, with the NMPED-School Budget & Finance Division as an Operational Financial Coordinator assigned to oversee the operational budget of various school districts; 4-years with the New Mexico Department of Finance & Administration-Local Government Division, where I’m currently employed as an Advanced Financial Coordinator, assigned to oversee the operating budget of various Municipalities and Counties. Along with serving as a Subject Matter Expert in the development and implementation of the new local governments financial reporting software “New Mexico Local Government Budget Management System” (LGBMS).

I studied Business Accounting at Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) and the University of New Mexico (UNM). Currently, I am pursuing my New Mexico Public Finance Professional (NMCPFP) Certification through New Mexico Education Designed to Generate Excellence in the Public Sector (NMEDGE) program; a service of New Mexico State University’s Cooperative Extension Service. I hold a level II Professional School Business Official License.

As a BPS Board Member and member of the community, it is my desire to increase the student membership by ensuring all students, staff, community, and stakeholders feel safe and secure while attending school or on school property. I want to promote education values among students, staff, community and stakeholders by providing a positive collaborative educational environment that inspires, engages, and challenges students, for them to best achieve their potential.
