Good morning, BPS Families and Team- Yesterday's events in Uvalde, Texas have again brought a sober reminder to safety and security in public spaces. On behalf of Bernalillo Public Schools Board of Education, we extend our deepest sympathies to the families and staff of Uvalde CISD. For the rest of the week, BPS has heightened our security on each campus, with Bernalillo Police Department and Sandoval County Sherriff's Department providing additional presence at each of our campuses in the district. Please note that this heightened security is not due to any existing threat, but as an additional security response in the wake of yesterday's incident. BPS is committed to protecting our children and staff on our campuses, and we will be investing time and resources in the next few weeks and months to enhance our systems of security, police presence, and training for staff, so that entering next school year, we are even better prepared for a safe and healthy school environment. Thank you for allowing Bernalillo Public Schools to serve your families! Sincerely, Matt
