    Completing the FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid - is the first step to obtaining financial aid for college.

    To complete the FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid, follow the steps below:

    1. Create two FSA IDs - one for the student and one for a parent/guardian at https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm. If parent/guardian has completed a FAFSA in the past for another child, you must use the same FSA ID that was used before.
    2. Go to https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa and begin the FAFSA. You will be completing it as the student. You are completing this application for the 2021-2022 school year.
    3. Once your FAFSA is complete and has been submitted, apply to win a $500 scholarship , a $100 gift card, or a laptop computer at https://www.nmeaf.org/FAFSA-Scholarship
