Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) - is now completely web-based.  The U.S. Department of Education will no longer publish paper forms.  All submissions must be completed on-line via the Internet.  Click on the link to access this site:  www.fafsa.ed.gov .  It is FREE and there is no charge to submit this application.

Please note:  There are many sites that claim you may submit the FASFA form and charge a fee. You should ONLY use the link provided above to submit this form for free.

The FAFSA is REQUIRED by every college and university for any student considering/requesting any type of financial aid.  This includes:  scholarships, awards, grants, state and federal loans, on-campus work-study jobs, etc.

SENIORS:

TIP: The deadlines for your state or schools may be different from the federal deadlines and you may be required to complete additional forms. State deadlines are normally much earlier than Federal deadlines.

For next 2010-2011 school year, the FASFA MUST be submitted to New Mexico colleges and universities by March 1st, 2010.   You may submit the forms as early as January 1, 2010.

You are strongly encouraged to submit completed applications as soon as possible, as aid is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

FAFSA Preparation Worksheet  - It is highly recommended that parents and students use this on-line FAFSA Worksheet to help organize the required information before completing the formal FAFSA on-line application.

The FAFSA form is available at www.fafsa.ed.gov .  An estimate of financial need can also be calculated at www.act.org/fane .
